What do you need healing for?

In my Shaman Grandmother's family the Shaman would often make a healing article of natural objects or even man made objects called SAJTAN.

Sometimes the Shaman would see the person's dis-ease in a stone, and trample that stone and give it to that person. As the person then carried this stone on his person, he or she would recover from their dis-ease. Sometimes that stone as well as other objects were put into little pouches made of deerhide, rabbit skin or fabric and given to the person as SAJTAN. Sometimes the pouches were smeared with the Shaman's own blood as a healing force. Even large boulders and rocks and trees could also become SAJTANS at the Shaman's hands, especially those resembling human figures.

One time there was an outbreak of diptheria in my Shaman Grandmother's village and her Shaman Grandmother had all the people of the village crawl through a hole in the trunk of a tree. No one else got sick and those that were sick were healed. This is an example of a Shaman creating a SAJTAN for healing purposes.

There are also some large stones in Cornwall England with holes in them that are said to have curative powers. My grandmother told me that any stone with a hole in it was a curative stone and when we would go to the beach I would look for these holy stones as a child. They are healing stones.

Iron pendants respresenting birds and animals decorated my Grandmother's Shaman robes and functioned as her guardian SAJTAN. I too have such a pendant given to me by supernatural forces.
