I
have been a Shaman lifetime after lifetime. I call myself Elder because
I am old. Although the gift remains with us for eternity, the
reawakening of the gift must be experienced in each lifetime. The ache
of the call grows more fierce as we mature and travel whatever path we
were raised to or born into. If we are lucky, we will find our way to
Shamansim easily. If we are not lucky we may be tossed about on the
ocean of life until it seems that the only harbor we see is the Shaman
way we were always meant to go.
I began
studying Traditional Shamanism at the knee
of my grandmother when I was 3, just as she learned from her
grandmother in the country of the Ukraine as far back as anyone can
follow. When my grandmother died I was 16 and I had a kind of "crisis
of
faith" about God, Spirit,Creator. So I spent the next 10 years of my
life studying all the religions of the world trying to find out if
there was just one thing they all agreed on. I visited monasteries,
read volumes and tomes, studied many different faiths including
Buddhism, Bahai, the Tao, Catholicism, Christian denominations, Church
of Scientology, Universalist, Unitarian, Voodoo, Wiccan, and practiced
some of them myself. And you know what I found was the same no matter
what faith
you believed in? A belief in "a Higher Power".
During this time I also
became a minister,counselor, pastored a christian congregation
for a while and obtained a Doctorate of Divinity. My crisis was long
gone but my knowledge had increased manifold and I had learned to
accept people for what they believe regardless of what they believe.
There is no judgement of others' beliefs. (my Buddhist self)
I went back to practicing the
Shamanism I was given, doing ministerial work and counseling, when I
became increasingly hungry to find out what other Shamans believed and
practiced. Back on my "bicycle", hopping from country to country with the
clothes on my back I learned about Shamanism around the world. I met
some of the most wonderful people and was welcomed everywhere and
allowed to study with some of the most remarkable Shamans. And you know
what I found? That Shamanism is the same, everywhere! Oh yes there are
certainly cultural differences, and that makes for ceremonial
differences. Some Shamans use drums and some don't. Some Shamans have
jojoba and some Shamans have poppy seeds. The clothes vary, the use of
masks vary but the beliefs and the meaning of the word Shaman is
universal. I was so amazed that everything that my grandmother had
taught me was being and had been practiced all over the world since the
beginning of time!
This gave
me a new appreciation for what I had learned from my heritage and I
also now had a lot more education in being a Shaman myself. I came home
to America and returned to practicing Shamanism privately for free. And
for the first time in my life, I really owned my path. I knew without
doubt that this was the place I was meant to be and I was doing what I
was meant to do and boy did it feel right and good! I wish everyone
could feel as fulfilled as I do.
But then
Spirit began nudging me by making me think of all those people who do
not have a Shaman to learn with. No one to show the way. I was lucky. I
had my grandmother; but what of those people who cannot afford a
seminar, or cannot take the time to live with a Shaman and learn in
that manner. What of those people who live in remote areas who
cannot attend a weekly meeting? How are they to answer their call and
find their path? This gnawed on me for a long time. Even the free counseling
I was offering seemed to bring these seekers into my life. So I agreed
with Creator to write this course.
I started
writing it from the Ukrainian perspective as I was taught, my homeland,
my heritage, but it didn't take long to realize that North Americans do
not have access to the herbs of the Ukraine! That was just not going to
work. And to write about African Shamanism or even South American
Shamanic ceremonies and cures was just not going to be applicable by city
dwellers in America or peacekeepers in Germany. But we can all relate
to a medicine wheel. We can all understand a drum. We all have an
affinity for animals all over the world. So I took the tools of the
shaman from all over the world that we can use todayand I teach those.
I give the tools that we can easily use to walk the path of the Shaman.
I teach the things that my grandmother taught me to be: A Shaman is
There are many people today who have unexplained physical or mental or even emotional tourmoil in their lives. There seems to be no logical explanation. Some have spent thousands of dollars on traditional medical tests trying to find a cause to no avail. Still others are now taking courses of very powerful and expensive medications prescribed to them by physicians who neither can diagnose the problem or determine the effects of these drugs on people who don't need them.
I am very concerned about these people. Don't lose your life in the hands of today's doctors because they could not tell you that what you "suffer" from is a calling to be on your own path that has been yours for milleniums.
Before you give yourself over to this, take this course with me. If what you have is indeed a "calling" it will subside as you practice the methods and teachings here. When we walk the way we are supposed to go, things work easily indeed!
If your life is upside down, can't find the job for you, can't find your passion, can't find your love, the answer is in finding your path. Once you are walking your path, things go as they should. I am not saying that Shamanism is the path for everybody. But this course will also teach you about related healing techniques. You will learn visualization and meditation. Just using these will improve your life, bring health and happiness and resolution of issues from your past. Also you will learn healing with herbs, totems, techniques, and come to realize the need for and presence of Shamans in the world today.
My work as for many others is to help people connect their inner and outer realities, to clear old wounds held inside, to express their own inner wisdom and power, and to enjoy the life they are destined to live in peace and harmony so they become part of the solution instead of part of the problem of human life on Earth.
A Shaman walks with one foot in this world and one foot in the spirit world. Our outer world may be different, but our human inner landscape has the same components as always. Our outer health and wholeness is an expression of our inner health and holiness. We are here to bring spirit into matter and matter to spirit.
As a walker between the worlds, I walk between the lines seeing the realities from an eagle's view and realizing that there are three ways to do anything.
Please join me in this journey and learn truths that will set you free.
